Knights Take Down Lumberjills 3-1
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team picked up its first win of the conference season by a score of 3-1 over Northland College Saturday afternoon at Knight Field.
Kadie Drake opened up the scoring with the first of two goals in the 20th minute for MLC, but, one minute later, the Lumberjills tied up the game at one when Ashley Runge scored.
In the 28th minute Bethany Schultz scored from outside the box for the second game in a row to give the Knights a 2-1 advantage at the half.
Drake’s second goal came in the 60th minute on a pass from Hannah Mattek to give the Knights the insurance goal they were looking for.
Overall the Knights fired 20 shots, including 8 on goal. Allison Snyder stopped 8 of the 9 shots taken at her.
With the win the Knights improved to 2-3 overall with a 1-1 conference record. The Lumberjills are now 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday (September 21) when they travel to North Central. The game is scheduled for 4 pm.
