Knights unable to Slow Vikings in Second Half
MANKATO, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team played Bethany Lutheran even for a half, but fell victim to a scoring barrage by the Vikings in the second half in a 6-1 loss Tuesday night.
The two teams were tied 0-0 at the half, with each team having four shots on goal.
BLC started to roll offensively in the second half, scoring in the 55th minute and then scoring four more times in the next 20 minutes to take a 5-0 lead.
Lauren Maertz scored the lone MLC goal, her seventh on the season, off a pass from Alison Filter.
Bethany Schultz finished with a team-high three shots, two of which were on net. Maertz and Emily Marggraf also had two shots on goal for the Knights.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in UMAC play. BLC improved to 9-6-1 on the season and 7-3 in conference action.
MLC will return to action on Friday, October 19, when it travels to North Central for a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
