Knights, Vikings Tie 2-2 in Women's Soccer

NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC soccer team tied Bethany Lutheran College 2-2 Saturday afternoon at Knight Field.

Kadie Drake scored a goal in MLC's 2-2 tie against BLC

The Knights fell behind 1-0 in the 24th minute after a mistake in the defensive zone, but came back to tie it in the first half when Linda Kenyon scored her first goal of the season off a cross from Kadie Drake to take the game to 1-1 at the half.

Drake put the Knights ahead in the fourth minute of the season half when she scored off a pass from Hannah Mattek, giving her four goals on the season.

The Vikings were able to tie the game on a goal from Kindra Fairburn in the 76th minute, and the two teams played even the rest of regulation and through two overtimes for the tie.

The two teams were even in just about all the numbers, with the Knights outshooting the Vikings 21-18 overall, while Bethany held a 10-8 edge in shots on goal.

Bethany Schultz had a team-high five shots, while Allison Snyder and Keely Keese combined to save eight shots in goal for MLC.

With the tie, MLC moved to 6-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the UMAC, while BLC is now 6-5-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in league play.

The Knights will return to action on Thursday, October 13, when they travel to Northwestern to take on the Eagles in a 1:30 p.m. game.
