Late Goal Gives MLC Women 1-0 Win
MINNEAPOLIS - A late goal by Bethany Schultz pushed the MLC women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at North Central Friday.
Schultz broke a scoreless tie in the 80th minute, scoring her sixth goal of the season to give the Knights the only tally of the game.
MLC dominated on the stat sheet, outshooting the Rams 23-5 overall and 16-3 on goal. Schultz led the team with eight total shots, five of which were on net. Lauren Maertz and Hannah Mattek had five and four shots, respectively.
Defensively, the Knights held NCU to only one shot in the first half, and Keely Keese saved all three shots she faced to record her first shutout of the season.
With the win, MLC improved to 5-10 on the season and 4-7 in UMAC play, while NCU dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-11 in conference games.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 20, when they travel to Northwestern for a 2:30 p.m. start.
