MLC Women Roll to 8-0 Win
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team dominated action on the way to an 8-0 win over Finlandia Saturday afternoon.
The Knights outshot the Lions 46-2 in the game, and held a 29-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Bethany Schultz led the offense with three goals, while Alydia Lee scored twice. Lauren Maertz, Cassie Krug and Hannah Mattek each tallied one goal for the Knights in the game.
Schultz started the scoring in the tenth minute of play off a pass from Mattek to put MLC ahead 1-0, with goals from Maertz and Krug later in the half push the Knights' lead to 3-0 heading into halftime.
MLC started the second half with an offensive surge, scoring five times in less than 20 minutes after the break to push the cushion to 8-0.
The lead would be more than enough for goalkeeper Leah Snyder, who stopped the only shot she faced in the game for her first career shutout.
With the win, MLC improved to 1-2 on the season, while Finlandia dropped to 1-2.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, September 11, when they host Buena Vista for a game scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
