Strong Defense Not Enough at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. – The MLC women’s soccer team gave a great defensive effort, but was unable to come up with enough offensive punch in a 1-0 loss at St. Scholastica Friday.
The Knights held the Saints scoreless for the first half, but gave up the game’s only goal by Andrea Beatt in the 59th minute, giving CSS the lead.
Allison Snyder was terrific in goal for the Knights, stopping 11 of the 12 shots she faced. For the game, the Knights were held without a shot, while St. Scholastica produced 29 total shots (12 of which were on net).
With the loss, MLC dropped to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference, while the Saints improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in UMAC play.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 17) at Northland. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
