The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead on a goal in the eighth minute, but the MLC defense held UMM to six shots in the half to keep the deficit at one heading into the break.

UMM would take control in the second half, however, scoring four times in the first 18 minutes of the second stanza on the way to the 6-0 final.

Bethany Schultz led MLC with five shots, while Keely Keese stopped three shots in net for the Knights.

The Knights' season ended with a record of 12-8, tying them for the third most wins in program history. This trip to the UMAC Tournament was the first for the program since the 2005 season, and the team's 10-4 conference mark was the first time in program history that a team won ten UMAC games.
