Women's Soccer Struggles at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. – The MLC women’s soccer team had a day at St. Scholastica, losing 12-0 to the eight-time defending conference champions Saturday afternoon.
The Saints jumped on the Knights right away, as Casey Mitchell scored the first of her four goals just 45 seconds after the game started. CSS would score three more times In the first half to take a 4-0 lead into the break.
The scoring continued for the Saints in the second. Andrea Beatt scored three straight goals in the first 16 minutes of the second half, and Mitchell scored her final three goals on the way to the CSS win.
Casey Sauer picked up the only shot for MLC in the match, as the Knights were outshot 37-1 .
MLC’s loss drops it to 4-6 overall and 3-3 in UMAC play, while CSS improved to 7-3-1 on the season and 6-1 in league play.
The Knights will return to action Saturday, October 6, when they host Bethany for a match scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
