Women's Soccer Wins 2-0 at Crown
ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team won for the fifth time in the last games by defeating Crown 2-0 Friday afternoon.
The Knights dominated play from the start, outshooting the Storm 30-2 overall and putting 15 of those shots on goal.
Jenna Maurer put the Knights on the board in the 40th minute with her team-best 13th goal of the season to give MLC the 1-0 edge going into the half.
Lauren Maertz put the game away with an insurance goal in the 75th minute, her fourth of the season. Bethany Schultz assisted on the play, giving her a UMAC-best nine on the season and also pushing her career point total to 100.
Keely Keese started in goal for the Knights and saved the only shot she faced before coming out of the game in the final minutes.
With the win, MLC improved to 9-4 on the season and 7-2 in UMAC play, while Crown dropped to 4-9-1 overall and 2-6-2 in league action in defeat.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 19) when it travels to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
