Softball Sweeps Storm
ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The MLC softball team swept Crown in a double header Thursday, winning game one 9-0 and game two 13-2.
The Knights scored in each of the first four innings on the way to a 9-0 win over Crown in game one.
MLC scored once in the first and second innings, twice in the third, and then put the game away with five in the fourth.
Laura Miller allowed only one hit in five innings of work on the way to improving to 3-7 on the season.
Amanda Fogle led the team with three RBI, while Elizabeth Henke had three hits and two runs batted in. Sarah Free and Katie Kretsch each scored two runs.
MLC used two big innings to beat Crown 13-2 in five innings in game two.
The Knights scored six runs in the second and five runs in the fourth, and were helped by seven Crown errors in the game.
Miller pitched all five innings in game two, allowing two runs (both earned) on six hits while striking out two as she improved to 4-7 on the season.
Fogle had four RBI and three hits (two of them triples) in the game. Henke added two RBI, while Andrea Biedenbender had two hits at the top of the order.
With the sweep, MLC improved to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in the UMAC, while Crown dropped to 0-24 on the season.
MLC will return to the field tomorrow (Friday, April 22) when it travels to Northwestern for a double header scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
