Depth Pushes MLC Women to Win

MANKATO, Minn. - The MLC women's tennis team dropped three of the top four singles matches, but were able to beat Bethany 5-4 Monday with its depth in singles and a slight edge in doubles.

Michelle Hintz teamed with Lauren Gross to win in doubles

Karina Luthra, Hannah Janke and Heidi Heckmann won their singles matches in the third, fifth and sixth spots to help the Knights even up the singles event 3-3.

MLC took two of the three doubles matches, with Rachel Niemi teaming with Luthra to win 8-6, while Lauren Gross and Michelle Hintz won their match 8-4.

With the win, MLC improved to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the UMAC, while Bethany dropped to 1-9 on the season.

MLC will return to action on Thursday, April 14, when it hosts Sioux Falls for a match scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
