ST. PAUL - MLC outside hitter Rebecca Engelbrecht was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week for her play in helping MLC to a 3-0 week to close the regular season.
Rebecca Engelbrecht was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week
Engelbrecht, who has won Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, won the award for defense after averaging 3.64 digs and a team-best 1.09 blocks per set. In the Knights' big win over St. Scholastica Friday night, Engelbrecht led the team with 23 digs and eight blocks to help MLC secure the third seed in the UMAC Postseason Tournament.
Engelbrecht and the Knights will open the UMAC Tournament Wednesday in a match at St. Scholastica scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
