Knights Split Pair on Day Two
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the tournament at St. Olaf, defeating Hamline in four games in the first match, and falling to St. Olaf in three games in the second.
MLC won the first two games of its match against Hamline, and then recovered from a tough third game to win the fourth. The final scores in the win were 25-20, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19.
Rebecca Engelbrecht led MLC with 12 kills and hit .310 for the match, while Emily Boldt and Katelyn Hauf added 11 and eight kills, respectively.
Renee Peters finished with a team-best 20 digs for the match, while Mackenzie Krentz had a match-high 39 assists, and also added ten digs.
In the second match, the Knights dropped all three games to tournament host St. Olaf, who finished the two day event undefeated at 4-0. The scores of the three games were 25-17, 25-9, 25-17.
MLC was unable to get things going through the match against St. Olaf, finishing with 19 total kills over the three games and hitting -.043 for the match.
Jaime Eternick led the team with five kills, while Mackenzie Krentz had a team-high 18 assists. Renee Peters and Rebecca Enbelbrecht each finished with eight digs.
With the split, MLC moved to 2-2 for the season.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, September 7, when it hosts North Central in the Knights' home opener. The match will start at 7 p.m.
