Knights Sweep Triangular
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team played two strong matches Saturday, beating both Northland and Waldorf in a triangular at MLC.
MLC beat Northland by the scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 26-24.
The Knights took down the Lumberjills with a balanced offensive attack that hit .224 for the match. Jaime Eternick had a team-high ten kills, while Rebecca Engelbrecht and Emily Boldt had nine and seven, respectively.
The Knights also finished with nine service aces for the match, with Mackenzie Krentz finishing with a team-best four in the match. Krentz also added a match-high 26 assists and four kills.
MLC took the second match against Waldorf by the scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-19.
Engelbrecht led the Knights with seven kills on the day, while Eternick and Boldt added six and five, respectively.
The MLC defense came up big against the Warriors, as the Knights finished with 14 blocks in the three sets. Krentz had a team high five total blocks, while Boldt, Engelbrecht and Rachel Hein each had four. Renee Peters came up big in the back row, finishing with a match-high 16 digs, and also adding five service aces.
With the two wins, MLC dropped to 16-11 overall and 6-5 in the UMAC.
MLC will return to action Wednesday, October 27, when it hosts Bethany. The game will be MLC’s “Dig Pink” game, and will begin at 7 p.m.
