Knights Sweep Storm
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team came from behind late in the third set to finish off a 3-0 sweep of Crown by the scores of 25-7, 25-15 and 29-27.
The Knights rolled in the first two sets, holding Crown to an attack percentage of -.089. The Storm surged to a 14-7 start in the third before the Knights rallied to take a 24-19 lead, but Crown would run off six straight points to take a 25-24 advantage before MLC finally finished the set and the match at 29-27.
The Knights roared out of the gates with an attack percentage of .444 in the first set, and finished at .202. Morgan Kumbier led the team with nine kills and an attack efficiency of .818. Kumbier also joined Miranda Maasz and Heather Danell with a team-best four blocks.
Alex Anthon led MLC with ten digs in the match, while Kayla Schoeneck and Sarah Koelpin combined for five service aces.
MLC improved to 14-10 on the season and 7-3 in the UMAC with the win, while Crown dropped to 4-21 overall and 3-7 in league play with the loss.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 26) when they host Minnesota Morris in a match scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
