Volleyball Loses in Three at UMM
MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-0 at Minnesota Morris Saturday afternoon by the scores of 27-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
The Knights tied the first set 25-25, but the Cougars seized the momentum in the match by finishing with the final two points to take a 1-0 lead.
After the Cougars controlled the second set throughout to take a 2-0 lead, they closed out the Knights with 5-2 run at the end of the third set to finish the sweep.
Miranda Maasz finished with 38 assists in he match, helping MLC hit .190 compared to .238 for UMM. Leah Nass led MLC with 12 kills and hit .333, while Rebecca Engelbrecht finished with 11 kills.
Alex Anthon continued her strong play in the back row at libero, finishing with a match-high 20 digs. MacCartney Mendolla added 15 digs for MLC.
The Knights fell to 7-7 on the season and 1-1 in the UMAC with the loss, while UMM improved to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the conference with the win.
MLC will return to action on Friday, September 27, when it plays in its home opener against North Central at 7 p.m.
