Volleyball Rolls to Win over Lumberjills

NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team defeated Northland College 3-0 Friday night by the scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-14.

A number of Knights contributed in the winning effort, as they were able to build a solid lead in the first several sets and play a number of players.

Rebecca Engelbrecht led MLC with nine kills in two sets, while Morgan Kumbier added seven kills in only eight attempts for a stellar .875 hitting percentage.

MLC hit .221 for the match, as setter Miranda Maasz led all players with 27 assists to go with eight digs and four service aces.

Alex Anthon led the team in digs on the day with nine, while Heather Danell and Kumbier each had three blocks.

The Knights improved to 16-11 on the season and 9-4 in league play with the win, while the Lumberjills dropped to 3-24 overall and 1-12 in the UMAC in defeat.

MLC will play its regular season finale tomorrow (Saturday, November 2) when it hosts St. Scholastica in a match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
