Volleyball Sweeps Opening Double Header
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team opened the season in style Thursday night with a double header sweep at a tournament at St. Olaf.
The Knights beat Macalester in the first match in four sets, taking the first two and then the fourth by the scores of 25-20, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-13.
In the second match, MLC came back from one set down twice to beat Hamline by the scores of 16-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-12.
The Knights had several big performances against Hamline, with Emily Boldt finishing with ten kills and seven blocks. Kayla Schoeneck had a team-best 12 kills, while Miranda Maasz finished with 33 assists. Jen Draeger led the back row defense with a team-high 22 digs.
MLC will return to action at the St. Olaf tournament Friday (September 2), when they play another double header. The first match will be against Carleton at 6 p.m., with the second match against St. Olaf at 8 p.m.
