EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The MLC volleyball team lost both matches at the UW-Eau Claire Labor Day Classic Saturday, losing 3-0 to UW-Eau Claire and then 3-1 to St. Catherine.

Miranda Maasz and the Knights lost twice at UWEC

[UW-Eau Claire 3, MLC 0]

The Knights lost to UWEC by the scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19.

Rebecca Engelbrecht had a team best nine digs, while Rachel Hein finished with ten kills.

[St. Catherine 3, MLC 1]

In the second match, MLC lost in four games to St. Catherine by the scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-27, 25-20.

Engelbrecht led the team with ten kills and added ten digs. Miranda Maasz and Alex Anthon also had ten digs, while Hein had three blocks.

With the losses, MLC finished its first tournament of the season with a record of 0-4.

The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 7, when they travel to Bethel for a two-day tournament. MLC’s first opponent will be Linfield, with the match scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
