Volleyball Wins Home Opener against NCU
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team won its home opener against North Central Friday night 3-0 by the scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-12.
The Knights started the match on an 11-0 roll, as Kayla Schoeneck served ten straight points. From there, MLC controlled the rest of the match, never trailing in any set on the way to the 3-0 win.
Heather Danell led a group of MLC hitters that hit .326 for the match, finishing with a team-high 12 kills and an attack percentage of .733. Rebecca Engelbrecht and Morgan Kumbier added seven and five kills, respectively.
Miranda Maasz helped those hitters, finishing with 35 assists and also recording ten digs. Schoeneck led the Knights with 11 digs, while Engelbrecht also finished with four blocks.
The Knights improved to 8-7 on the season and 2-1 in the UMAC with the win, while NCU dropped to 4-14 overall and 1-3 in league play with the loss.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 28) when it hosts Northwestern for a match that is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
