Banner Design Request

Mall Banners

The Martin Luther College Campus Beautification Committee is calling all WELS and ELS artists! We have begun a series of seasonal banners for the MLC campus mall and we want your help. Last semester we asked for Advent banner designs. This semester we are requesting designs for the Easter season. If you are an artist or designer in the WELS/ELS fellowship, you are invited to submit a proposal for the next set of Easter banners.

Guidelines:

Produce a design that relates to and incorporates the theme: Christ died...He was raised...You are saved (based on I Cor. 15:2-4).

  • We are looking for straight forward images that communicate this message and are easy to interpret from a distance. Simple is the best in this application.
  • The banners are roughly 25” wide by 60” high. Multiple colors may be used, but white (the liturgical season color) should be prominent. Use of gold, the secondary liturgical color, is also highly recommended. The banners will hang vertically along the mall rotating between scripture fragment and designed banner (see picture). The banner with scripture will be designed in house and will have the italicized text noted above.
  • Adobe Illustrator files .ai or .eps with colors from the pantone color chart are preferred.
  • Include your name, congregation, and brief artistic background.

Deadline:

Feel free to contact Jan Nass with any questions at nassja@mlc-wels.edu  Proposals are to be submitted to that same email address by Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

All submitted work will be reviewed by the Campus Beautification Committee. Entries that meet the requirements noted above will then be included in a finalist group. Voting will be by live public ballot in the MLC cafeteria during the final week of February. The chosen design will be printed and banners installed for the Easter season and for the Chapel of the Christ dedication on April 10 &11.
