Preliminary construction on chapel is underway
Though the official groundbreaking was celebrated on May 16, much work has to be done before chapel construction can begin. Building estimates were reviewed and adjustments were made before the final bids were sought. Bids were then reviewed, and contracts have now been signed. Preliminary work was needed on water and sewer lines and drainage tiles were upgraded. A perimeter fence will soon be constructed to secure the building and staging area. The next major activity will be digging for the footings and the basement, with shell construction targeted for late September or early October. The anticipated completion of the exterior shell is set for mid November. The building project remains on target for completion in the fall of 2009.
