First worship service in Chapel of the Christ
Wednesday, March 17, will forever be an historic day for Martin Luther College. The campus family gathered for the last time in the Wittenberg Collegiate Center Chapel/Auditorium for a service of thanksgiving. Hymns and prayers were offered in gratitude for the years of blessing that worship space had provided. The congregation then processed to the Chapel of the Christ for a rite of dedication and service of Word and sacrament. The MLC College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kermit Moldenhauer (who also served as the chairman of the Chapel of the Christ building committee), sang portions of Psalm 84, How lovely is thy dwelling place, O Lord of Hosts. In the sermon address, MLC President Mark Zarling directed the worshippers to “Rejoice in the True Glory of This Place.” The congregation completed the historic service by sharing in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
