Ladies’ Auxiliary National Meeting continues tradition of support

last modified 2011-09-30 02:44 PM

The 2011 Annual Ladies’ Auxiliary National Meeting is based on the theme "Tend the Spirit’s Fire." Attendees will learn about the new programs at MLC, select new projects for 2011-12, and work together to continue their support of MLC students and faculty. Workshops on “Timely Topics for Today” will highlight the afternoon. Read about workshop details.

Workshops – Timely Topics for Today

  1. On our campus – Learn about our Fitness Center and Food Bank
Stop #1 – The MLC Food Bank: Learn from Food Bank Director Judy Gosdeck how we serve the married students of our campus through the food and money donations you provide.
Stop #2 – The MLC Fitness Center: Learn from Liz Wessel, the FC Director, how this center provides a valuable space for our students and WELS members to stay healthy. Try out some equipment and learn some workout tips!
  2. With our students – Learn directly from our students about life at MLC
A student panel (Megan Wohlrabe, Galen Holzhueter, Phil Janisch, Aimee Ulm, Andrew Gerlach, Matt Stuebs) will share their experiences in the different courses of study at MLC and in their varied extracurriculars. They will also answer your questions. Find out firsthand what MLC students think about their time on campus.
  3. In the Word – Learn about the 2011 New International Version Bible
MLC Professor Thomas Nass serves on the WELS Translation Evaluation Committee, which began working in August 2010 to help WELS as it studies the NIV 2011 and makes a decision about what Bible translation should be used in WELS publications. He will report on that committee’s work and the 2011 Synod Convention resolutions.
  4. Across the globe – Learn about Daylight International and Daylight USA
MLC students are global! Hundreds have experienced mission work in our congregations across the U.S. and throughout the world. Wendy Ristow, one of our Daylight coordinators, will host two presentations. Maria Gines will speak about her experience in Asia, and Cecilia Diaz Delgadillo will speak about her work at Reformation Lutheran Church in San Diego, California.
  5. For your health – Learn about changes in our health care system
Jim Hahn, a Resource Development Counselor in the MLC Mission Advancement office, presents financial management seminars to MLC students. One of his topics covers health care changes and options. Find out about what “Obamacare” means to you and your future health care decisions.
