Twenty-three Martin Luther College students, accompanied by Professors Paul Tess and Kurt Wittmershaus, ventured east to Milwaukee for the annual Urban Ministry Trip April 2-5. The group spent two days touring, observing, and participating in several central city schools that are part of the Milwaukee School Choice program — Atonement, Hope-Prima, Risen Savior, and St. Marcus. The Center for Urban Teaching, led by Dr. Ray Dusseau and his team, played a major role in organizing the trip and providing valuable information through a number of seminars. Students participating in the trip often complete early field and student teaching experiences at urban schools, with hopes of better preparing themselves for service in this setting.
