Synod President Mark Schroeder

Synod President Mark Schroeder spoke to all interested faculty and staff members Tuesday, December 9, concerning the worldwide economic downturn and its effect on the synod and specifically MLC. The seriousness of the synod´s financial challenges will not be fully discerned until early February when the results of the "Year of Jubilee" offering and the regular Congregational Mission Offerings(CMO) are known.

In the meantime, MLC and the other three ministerial training schools, as well as all areas of ministry in WELS, are being asked to identify strategies for reducing their costs. President Schroeder assured the MLC campus family that WELS will continue to carry out its mission and ministry in keeping with the priorities set by the 2007 synod convention: mission outreach, ministerial education, and synod publications.
