Summer projects update

last modified 2006-08-31 08:46 PM

The MLC Custodial, Grounds and Maintenance crews have been busy this past summer with a variety of campus improvement projects.

  • Emergency roof replacement is being done over the entire Luther Student Center and the southwest corner of the Wittenberg Collegiate Center.
  • Air conditioning is being installed for the chapel auditorium and the two catacomb rooms. An upgrade of electrical service to the entire Wittenberg Collegiate Center preceded the installation.
  • The grass sprinkler system has been expanded throughout the entire north corridor of the campus.
  • Concrete repair and reestablishment of grass and plantings in damaged areas has received emphasis throughout the campus. The most significant changes can be seen between the Wittenberg Collegiate Center and the Luther Student Center where the sidewalks were rerouted to match traffic patterns and new steps poured for the cafeteria entrance.
  • Cafeteria booths have been recarpeted.
  • New beds have been placed in Centennial Dorm.
  • Tile replacement due to water damage has been completed in the basement of Augustana Dorm.
  • The showers in Summit Hall have been resurfaced with glass board and new stair treads are in place.
  • Water main replacement with separate shut off controls for each campus building is nearly complete.
  • The County Highway 27 project along our Luther Manor property will begin sometime in September. The entrance road has been rerouted and the Early Childhood Education Learning Center playground equipment is being moved in anticipation of this project.
  • First floor lights in the WCC have been fitted with new energy-saving ballasts.
  • The paint crew has been adding a touch of color to various areas of the campus. The halls and stairwells of Summit Hall, the cafeteria conference room, the Financial Services Office, and the Records Office are among the areas receiving attention.
