Steady Progress Toward a New ECLC

God's people provide the means for a new facility.

Martin Luther College’s Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is now operating from its temporary location in the Luther Student Center on the MLC campus.

The college has received bids on the construction of a new ECLC from RW Carlstrom Construction of Mankato with a guaranteed maximum price of $3.385 million.

An interim funding plan for the new ECLC was approved by the MLC Governing Board and was also ratified by the WELS Synodical Council this past week.

The MLC Mission Advancement Office is confident that the Let the Children Come campaign will reach its primary goal of providing full funding for construction of the new facility.

  • Currently, approximately $2.5M of gifts and commitments have been offered to Jesus to construct this new early childhood center as an important ministry and training tool.
  • Rather than delay construction and risk potential cost increases, and to immediately serve the blessed growth in the MLC early childhood program, the interim plan directs the temporary use of institutional reserve funds.
  • The interim plan commits MLC to replacing those funds immediately as the full cost of construction is gathered.
  • The MLC Mission Advancement Office and the WELS Ministry of Christian Giving will continue to present opportunities for WELS members to partner in this project and will remind them that the challenge grant remains in effect until June 30,2013.
