Prof. Jeff Schone has served MLC as Vice president for Student Life since 1997. In addition to these administrative duties Prof. Schone teaches Biblical History & Literature I & II, and introductory Social Science courses in Sociology and Economics.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Prof. Schone initially desired a legal career and enrolled at Northwestern University of Evanston, Illinois. The Lord steered him down a different vocational path, however, and he transferred to the WELS pre-seminary training school—the former Northwestern College of Watertown, Wisconsin—from which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983. He completed a divinity degree at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1987 and his Seminary studies were augmented by two opportunities for practical training – as an instructor at Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton, Wisconsin, and as a parish vicar at Riverview Lutheran Church also in Appleton, Wisconsin.

After completing seminary studies in 1987, Prof. Schone was assigned to serve as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winneconne, Wisconsin. In 1992 he accepted the call to serve St. Paul Lutheran Church in Arlington, Minnesota. When Martin Luther College called in 1997 he left full-time parish work to help train future gospel workers both as a professor and as the school’s Vice president for Student Life. Because of his administrative and practical duties in student affairs, he pursued and received an M.S. in Counseling and Student Personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2007.

Prof. Schone has served in the past as head coach of the MLC Golf team and as assistant coach of the Women’s Soccer team. Since 2009 he has enjoyed service as the head coach of the Women’s Soccer team. His wife Sue (Spaude) is a primary grade teacher at St. Paul Lutheran School in New Ulm. God has blessed Jeff and Sue with four children, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren.
