THE8508 Devotional Writing

Examining and practicing the art of writing spiritual devotions. Through readings and discussions, participants will examine core principles regarding the presentation of law and gospel and regarding effective, concise communication. Devotions of varying quality (theologically and stylistically) will be critiqued. Participants will practice writing devotions for adults and for children, for oral delivery in church or classroom settings, and for written publication in church newsletters, parents’ pages, etc.

A reading and discussion of C.F.W. Walther’s lectures on distinguishing law gospel. Includes applying these core doctrines to current issues.
