Changes in Technology Emphasis Courses on the Horizon
With the addition of two new graduate adjunct professors, several changes will soon be coming to educational technology courses. Dr. Richard Bakken is in the process of revising EDT5003 Multimedia Technologies to bring the course up to date with current technology and practical applications. The course will be offered this coming spring semester.

The 2014-2016 Graduate Studies Bulletin is now available. Some of the updates include the addition of several new graduate courses and graduate faculty. Educational Technology Emphasis
MLC developed the educational technology emphasis to support teachers' ongoing efforts to integrate technology in the school curriculum. This emphasis is specially designed to assist WELS technology coordinators and classroom teachers to become technology leaders in their schools.

New Special Education Course Numbers
Beginning this fall, graduate students will note a new course number prefix – SPE. The prefix change reflects the growing attention to special education at Martin Luther College. New courses are being created and offered in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, prompting the need for new course numbers. The following new and existing graduate courses are affected:

The opportunity is exciting because it allows the graduate student to address a problem of practical, personal interest and importance. It can be intimidating because ownership for the project lies completely with the learner, not the instructor. In consultation with an advisor, the student sets the parameters and time frame for the project. Here are some tips students may find helpful.

In response to recent requests, MLC is developing new programs to target specific ministry needs: a Master of Science in Educational Administration for principals and early childhood directors, a Master of Theology for teachers and staff ministers, and a state licensure option in learning disabilities.

MLC Graduate Students Are Bloggers!
In recent months, several MLC graduate students have had articles published in the MLC blog "Issues in Lutheran Education." As Lutheran school leaders, they stimulate professional conversation among peers on topics such as student retention, special education, and flipped classrooms. The blog has about 500 followers and has been viewed nearly 20,000 times since its introduction one year ago.
