College Choir Homecoming Concert
March 22, 2026 – 3 pm
For 1700 years Christians have summarized what they believe about God the Holy Trinity in the words of the Nicene Creed. Composed in the 4th century of the New Testament era to combat false teachings about Christ and the Holy Spirit, the Nicene Creed confesses clearly that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human and that the Holy Spirit is indeed the Lord. In its original Greek form, and now in a contemporary English translation, the Nicene Creed confesses, “We believe.” Since this creed is very much the confession of the entire Christian assembly, it was natural that it would eventually be added to the Church’s public worship. There it has remained for over 1000 years.
Early in its use as the creed of public worship, the Nicene Creed began to be confessed in song. The College Choir is pleased to expand this tradition as it presents the truths of the creed, which are the truths of the Scriptures, in hymns and anthems.
