If your student calls home with a problem – sickness, relationship troubles, a surprising D or two – we have personnel on campus who are trained to help them resolve thee difficulties. Remind your students to seek out these people:

  • They’re having trouble with a course: They should see the course professor first, then their academic advisor. The Academic Success Center, located in the library, also has helpful resources, including tutors.
  • They feel a little fluey: They should see Kelsey Horn, RN in the Health Service Office on the south side of the Luther Student Center. The office is open 7:30am – 2:00pm Monday through Friday. Ms. Horn keeps all student medical records, helps assess illness, coordinates appointments at area medical centers, and offers wellness tips.
  • They’re having roommate trouble:They can contact their student RAs (resident assistants) or their dorm supervisors.
  • They’re not sure they should be here … they’re feeling depressed … they’ve just found out some bad news … things aren’t good at home: Campus Pastor John Boeder and VP for Student Life Jeff Schone are dedicated to answering questions and counseling students through personal problems and life changes. Both professors have an open-door policy, and they can also be reached by email for formal appointments. Students should never hesitate to stop in and see them. That’s what they’re here for.

The college also has close ties to other resources in the church and community, and we will refer your students if necessary: the New Ulm Medical Center/Hospital, Cornerstone Christian Counseling, Brown County Social Services, WELS area pastors, etc.
